got luxon faction for kurz controlled area? - Guild Wars Forums

Just vanq'd Rhea's Crater. Left from Seafarer's, picked up Kurzick blessing but got Luxon faction for the vanq. Is it because most of the area on the map was Luxon controlled?

Rhea's Crater by default is a Luxon area (as its part of the Jade Sea), so no matter who controls the "area", the end reward will always be Luxon.

Faction rewards for vanquishing are based on geographic location: Echovald Forest areas get kurzick faction, Jade Sea areas get luxon faction.

Faction bounties are tied to which faction controls the neighbouring outpost or the geographic location (if not next to an outpost).

So yes, you can get luxon bounties and kurzick rewards in an echovald forest area and kurzick bounties and luxon rewards in jade sea areas.

The reward for vanquishing isn't determined by where the line is, Jade sea areas will always reward vanquishes with Luxon faction and Echovald areas will always reward Kurzick faction. The only thing that the line will determine is who controls the shrines.

So, if you're farming Kurzick faction by vanquishing, be sure to enter any Kurzick areas where the rez shrine is controlled by the Kurzicks to get the faction for individual kills.
